  • Chinese New Year is on Thursday the 19th of February

WHAT DO THE CHINESE DO BEFORE THE SPRING FESTIVAL?

  • There are several traditional activites necessary to do in preparation for the Chinese New Year
  • The first thing to do is have a special thank you dinner to the kitchen god .
  • You have a dinner with glutinous rice or sticky rice balls served in sugary syrup.
  • You also place a extra bowl of the meal in front of the kitchen gods picture.
  • After dinner the picture is burned and the kitchen god goes back to heaven.

WHAT DO THE CHINESE DO BEFORE THE SPRING FESTIVAL?

  • Going to the flower market is one of the things you must do the week before chinese new year.
  • The flower market is where you walk around and look at the various things the vendors have for sale.
  • Before the chinese new year comes each family will thoroughly clean their house every corner will be scrubbed and all the furniture will be thrown out and the floor will be swept.
  • And you must sweep the floor toward the door for getting rid of bad fortune and all the furniture will be thrown out.

WHAT DO THE CHINESE DO DURING THE SPRING FESTIVAL?

  • They eat a New Year Eve family dinner together
  • They go and see the firework with their family
  • The children usually get 1000 to a few thousand yuan in a red envelope
  • The new year market would be set up and would only sell new year goods such as clothes, fireworks, art, and snacks.
