Goals of AB Education:

• Help children develop self-confidence and positive group identity
• Develop empathy for a feeling of commonality with those who are different
• Develop an understanding of fairness and knowledge that discrimination and exclusion hurt
• Nurture children's ability to stand up for themselves and others in the face of unfairness and prejudice

Research shows:

• Children begin to be aware of these differences by age two
• Between three and five they they develop a sense of who they are and how they are different from others (Van Ausdale and Feagin, 2001
