LACERATIONS

Laceration is the medical term for a cut -- that is, a tear or opening in the skin.

PUNCTURE

Punctures usually occur when a pointed object, such as a nail, pierces the skin.

ABRASION

AN ABRASION IS A WOUND CAUSED BY SUPERFICIAL DAMAGE TO THE SKIN , NO DEEPER THAN THE EPIDERMIS.

AVULSIONS

AN AVULSION IS AN INJURY IN WHICH A BODY STRUCTURE IS DETACHED FROM ITS NORMAL POINT
