1. Web 2.0 App I would Use

  • Wiki
  • To find academic and trustworthy information
  • Diverse topics
Wikipedia is a trustworthy resource of academic information.
Furthermore, it is the biggest encyclopedia on the Internet with broad content.
Thus, the students will have no problem searching and collecting data on this website.

1. WEB 2.0 APP I would use

  • Blogger
  • Personal website
  • Easy to create post and follow
Blogger will let the users to create their own website by posting article.
Simple interface makes it easy to be used.
Allows users to embed pictures, videos, maps, flash games, etc.
It would be perfect combining with RSS Reader to keep track with others' blog.

1. WEB 2.0 APP I WOULD USE

  • Flickr
  • Upload, share and download photos.
  • Follow and search with tag
Flickr is one of the most famous website about sharing photos.
Impressive feature:
- Follow other users to know every picture they upload.
- Search with "tag", allow users to find photos they want in specific topic by key words.

1. WEB 2.0 APP I WOULD USE

  • Google Earth
  • What app is more appropriate with Geography class than this one?
Google Earth is a free application which allows users to figure out every single place on the Earth.
Easy to use, search for place by its name.

2. How I use Them

  • Assign each group of 5th grade students to find information about a city on the Earth
  • Suggest them to use Wiki to find basic information and Flickr to find photo
- With basic details such as area, population, time zone or official website, students can easy find on Wiki with reliable information.
- They also will not have any problem searching photos for that city on Flickr due to the tag of those photos.

2. HOW I USE THEM

  • Require students to submit a blog's post including:
  • 1. Name of the city
  • 2. Basic details
  • 3. Photos of that city
  • 4. Embed the map
The students need to synthesize the data they collected into a summary note.

3. how they improve learning process

  • Group-working skills
  • Increase engagement
  • Improve study achievement
- Working in group will help students to develop their skills of combination and management.
- Technology-related assignment will create engagement in students, encourage them to find more detail, dig into the knowledge source more deeply. Thus, they will be more creative.
- Being more active will help them to remember the knowledge easier and more successfully.

Conclusion

  • Time to change
  • Utilize the advantages of technology
- It's time to change the method of teaching. The teacher need to engage the students to the classroom. Boring lectures will only enrage them.
- Technology has countless advantages that we can use to improve learning process, so we need to utilize them wisely and effectively.
