FAMILY BACKGROUND
One of nine children
Often was sick as a baby- his mother kept notecards of different characteristics about each child
Had scarlet fever when he was 3- and he almost died

SCHOOL LIFE
Went to a boarding school called Choate in Connecticut
He had a daily subscription to the New York Times
His dad pushed him to do his best in schoolwork and life
Participated in football, swimming, and hockey

GRADUATION
Graduated in 1938
Attended Harvard
Played football for Harvard but unfortunately he ruptured a disk in his spine
This ended his football career, and he never fully healed from this injury

THE BROTHERS
Jack(John) & Joe were the two eldest boys in the Kennedy family
Their father had high hopes for both of them, however, it was Joe who thought he would become President one day
He also wanted to be the first Catholic President

He was a Lieutenant over a submarine in the South Pacific
After intense battles he returned home
Received a medal for his leadership and courage
His brother Joe also passed away in war

Ran for Congress in Massachussetts' eleventh congressional district
He won in 1946
He served three terms in the House
In 1962 he was elected to the Senate

HIS ROAD TO THE PRESIDENCY
While recovering from surgeries, he wrote a book about senators who had risked their careers fighting for what they believed in
In 1958, he was almost picked to run for Vice President
After this he decided that he would run for President in the next election
On July 13,1960, the Democratic Party chose him to be a candidate for the Presidency

HIS CAREER AS PRESIDENT
His first thing to create was the Peace Corps
This allows Americans to work anywhere in the world that needs assistance
They can help in farming, education, health care, and construction.
President Kennedy was also eager for the United States to explore space
Most of all he wanted to end segregation
He believed that all American, regardless of their skin color, should enjoy a happy life in the United States

THE PRESIDENT IS SHOT
On November 22, 1963, shots rang out as President JFK was driving through Dallas, Texas
Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the murder of the President
Two days later, Jack Ruby killed Oswald.
This ruined the chances of receiving more information on the tragic death of John
