Military Conflicts

The Civil War was fought between the Northern and Southern colonies. This event happened because the Northern States were trying to free the slaves.

WWI started when the Lusitania sank, when Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated, when Russia contacted Mexico with the Zimmerman telegraph, and when the three merchant ships were attacked and destroyed.

WWII started because Germany was trying to take over the world and when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor because we stopped sending them supplies.

We entered the Cold War because Communism was spreading across Asia.

These wars are all related because they all improved america by allowing african americans enter the military, and making the U.S. a super power

In 1876, Alexander Bell created the first phone. This allowed them to communicate from far distances.

The Wright brothers invented the first plane in 1903. This invention allowed people to travel faster.

In 1939 Igor Ivanovich invented the first successful helicopter to transport military soldiers faster than a plane.

Rockwell International invented the first space shuttle in 1988.

All these inventions all helped the U.S. improve our communication and transportation.

In 1895 African Americans were unemployed until the 14th amendment was passed.

Until 1965, African Americans were not able to vote until the 15th amendment was passed.

Interracial marriage was illegal until 1967, when Richard loving went to John F. Kennedy and helped loving win the Loving vs Virginia case.

Women were not able to help with military conflicts until 1941 when the Great Depression had ended and factories needed more employees to help make military ammunition in WWII.

All of these topics are related because they all made everyone equal.

Presidential leadership has led us to improve technology today. President John F. Kennedy invented the space race and since then we have created the first space shuttle that has taken us to the moon.

Letting women and African americans into the military helped america become more equal.
