COLD WAR
BY: SUJAY ADHIKARI
2.
BEGINNING
The Cold War was the result of the tension between the U.S. and the Soviet Union
They were very different: The U.S. had a capitalist economy with a representative government
The Soviet Union had a communist economy and government
It was called a cold war because no physical warfare actually took place
3.
ECONOMIC SYSTEMS
U.S. Capitalism: based on private enterprises and free market economy
Soviet Communism: productive communism with balanced growth
4.
U.S. FOREIGN POLICY
Had two counterstrategies to containment
Supported wars of national liberation or colonial revolution
Wanted to be equal to the U.S. in military power
5.
KITCHEN DEBATE
The debate illustrated the tension between the two nations
This showed how badly the two nations differed from each other
On one hand there was capitalism and democracy
On the other, there was communism
