Check documentation

Look for consent forms, orders, & allergies.

wash hands

as you introduce yourself

ID patient

Check for hoses and tubes

note placement, flow rates, & levels 

Start at the top

(Eyes, ears, nose, and throat)

Heart auscultation

(HINT:  "Ape-to-man")

Lung auscultation

(HINT:  5 in front, 9 in rear)

Abdominal auscultation

Four Quadrants (:30s each)

Palpation

Upper extremeties

cap refill, skin integrity, abnormalities, etc

Check pulses

(strength & symmetry)

Lower extremeties

(pedal pulses, edema, abnormalities, etc)

Check perineum

Dry, clean, & intact?

(Let's hope.)

Wash your hands!
