Barack Obama
It must be hard being the modern day "Atlas"
holding the world on your shoulders.
Weary of the weight but resigned to your fate.
Some people will snivel,
"He asked for it. He didn't have to be President."
And that's true.
Obama didn't HAVE to be president.
We make choices.
We imagine we don't HAVE to do what we don't want.
But we ALL have roles.
Some we embrace with gusto. Some we accept reluctantly.
We are sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, cousins,
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandparent & grand kids.
We are friends, neighbours, colleagues, volunteers,
employees, employers, service givers & receivers.
We are producers, consumers, investors, laborers,
leaders, followers, collectives & individuals.
We are alone yet together.
We depend on each other. Not just in America.
The whole world.
And we each have vital roles to play.
If we each fulfilled all our roles
with integrity, compassion & mutual goodwill,
Not only would the load be
lightened for Obama,
it would ease everyone's burden.
Be the best you possible...in all your roles.
