HORMONES

GONADS

• two sex glands
• Male - testes - sperm cells
• Female - ovaries - eggs
• Testosterone helps the growth of muscles, bone, and male characteristics
• Estrogen and progesterone helps the physical development of females

PITUITARY

• Size of a pea (Pea-tuitary)
• Regulates: growth hormones, muscle density, and bones
• Oxytocin and prolactin are shown in lower mammals

THYROID

• Produces three types of hormones: Triiodothyronine, Thyroxine, and Diiodothyronine
• They all regulate hormones including insulin cortisol and sex hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone
• Thyroid gland is in charge of regulating metabolism and weight by controlling fat burning processes - move to top
• Thyroid hormones are also in control of early development in children
• Hypothyroidism when your body too little of the the thyroid hormone iodine deficiency a normal cause for this
• This is often linked with mood changes and emotions
