EXAMPLE 1: THE TEXT

EXAMPLE 1: THE PROMPT

REVIEWING THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMENTARY

  • The writer stated his claim: negative qualities of summer compare to Shakespeare's love
  • The writer uses appropriate evidence to back up his claim
  • The writer generates his commentary by connecting the evidence back to the claim as done in every sentence after evidence

EXAMPLE 2: PROMPT

  • How does the speaker (from Arragon's speech in Merchant of Venice) create Ethos? (Be sure to include quote, technique, and commentary.)

EXAMPLE 2: THE RESPONSE

ORANGE-CLAIM; GREEN- EVIDENCE; PINK- COMMENTARY

REVIEW ON THE DEVELOPING OF COMMENTARY
