  • They lived in Dakota.
  • Sioux made dugout canoes.
  • They had events.
  • The Sioux told each other stories.

FOOD

  • Hunters hunted buffalo, elk, and deer.
  • Hunters later cooked their kills in pits.
  • The sioux also cooked choke berries.
  • The Sioux were hunters and farmers.

HOMES

  • There are tents called tepees.
  • Carefully designed to set up and break down quickly.

CULTURE

  • The Sioux is a tribe.
  • This term,shortened and corrupted by French traders,resulted in retention of last syllable as " Sioux.
  • Dakota" and " Lakota" mean " friends" or" allies.
  • There are various Sioux divisions and each has important cultural , linguistic, territorial and political distinctions.
