PRESENTATION OUTLINE

NUCLEAR ENERGY

PRO'S

  • Power plants don't produce greenhouse gasses or pollutants
  • 28 grams of uranium releases as much energy as 100 metric tons of coal
  • Fuel is in a larger supply than coal, oil, and gas
  • Doesn't need wind or sun, can function almost 24/7
  • Not too expensive to maintain

CONS

  • Disposal of nuclear waste can be expensive
  • Starting and decommissioning of plants are expensive
  • Incompetence of staff and designers can lead to disaster

ETHICAL

  • Right now, there have been too many accidents
  • And too much problems for this to be real ethical
  • But in the future, With nuclear fusion
  • Earth will have a source of near endless sustainable energy

ECONOMY

  • Large production of energy leads to cheaper electricity
  • Plants can open jobs for people

HARM SOCIETY

  • If an accident happens, it could have a real bad effect
  • It helps cause global warming

HELP SOCIETY

  • Electricity becomes more available for everyone
  • If nuclear fusion is figured out, you could have near indefinite energy

IS IT WORTH THE COST

  • If you can figure out the problem of waste and accidents
  • Then it would be worth the costs
