What Thomas Aquinas did

  • combined theological principles of faith
  • with philosphical principles of reasoning
  • he traveled, taught, wrote, public spoke, and preached
  • proved the existence of God in 5 ways
  • wrote 60 major works 

Significance of Thomas Aquinas

  • one of the most influential medievil thinkers
  • brought together principles of faith and reason
  • discovered three types of laws: natural, positive, and eternal
  • combined traditional theology with modern
  • philiosophic thought

Conciliar Movement

  • People felt like if the pope is a sinner then
  • someone should have more power than him
  • basically during this movement there were
  • many different ideas about how the council
  • should be with power against the pope
