CHARACTERISTICS

  • cross between a tiger (due to its stripes) and a dog (in terms of its build).
  • t it was a relatively shy, nocturnal creature with the general appearance of a medium-to-large-size dog
  • The thylacine was one of only two marsupials to have a pouch in both sexes (the other being the water opossum).
  • was a hypercarnivore restricted to eating vertebrate flesh
  • preferred the dry eucalyptus forests, wetlands, and grasslands in continental Australia

WHY EXTINCT?

  • They went extinct because of being hunted by the indigenous population.

LOCATION?

  • Native to Australia
  • The last one was caught in 1933 and died three years later in a zoo in Hobart, Australia.
