BLACK RHINO

Color- Gray
Height- 4.5 to 6 feet
Weight- 1,760 to 3,080 pounds
Type of Animal- Mammal
Outstanding Characteristic- Black rhinos have a pointed lip, while white rhinos have squared lips.

They stay in mostly desert areas, but they have to have plenty of water, so they can cool themselves n the mud.

The black rhino's diet consists of 40% grass. The remaining 60% is twigs leaves and small branches.

Rhino horns aren't made of bone, but keratin. (Which can be found in your hair and fingernails.)

The word "rhinoceros" is Greek. "Rhino" meaning "nose". "Ceros" meaning" "horn".

Black Rhinos are being poached for their horns, which contain valuable ivory.
Population: about 5,000
