DEFINITION

• Change in direction and intensities of waves after passing through a narrow slits or edges
• It results in a pattern of light

DIFFRACTION

• When the light goes through a narrow slit, all of the points of light become disrupted and become new points of light waves & create their own source of light

RAINBOW ON A CD

• A cd is made up of thousands of pits arranged in a form of spiral tracks.
• When visible light is incident on the pits, each pit diffracts light in all directions
