WHAT DO HORSES HAVE TO DO WITH FOX HUNTING?

  • Horses are very valuable in fox hunting
  • Horses have been used for fox hunting since first royal families
  • Horses carry the riders
  • They can run faster than the hounds

LAWS RELATED TO FOX HUNTING

  • Fox hunting was declared illegal in 2002
  • There was too much disagreement and they repealed the decision
  • Now it is used mostly as a form of pest control
  • There are 127 hunting clubs that support fox hunting

WHAT EXACTLY IS FOX HUNTING?

  • There is a large group of hounds
  • Can be from 10-30 hounds in a group
  • The horses follow closely behind
  • Riders are usually unarmed and rely on hounds to make the kill

FIELD/FOX HUNTER

THAT IS THE NAME GIVEN TO THE HORSES THAT ARE USED IN FOX HUNTING.

There is not a specific breed used in fox hunting, but most hunters use a thoroughbred.
