DEVELOP LIKE THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA.

Manifest destiny drove Americans to expand westward, causing clashes with natives over land. The United States Army easily crushed that of the natives.

Mexico also struggled with natives, so they implemented Caudillos, like Juan Manuel de Rosas. These Caudillos ruled through their armies, limiting freedoms.

Portugal and Spain allowed their colonies to have a littler part in ruling themselves than Britain. So the United States being more experienced in government developed a constitution.

However Mexico, struggled come to a consensus on a constitution. They went from one constitution to the next leading in most cases, power to eventually fall to a dictator. Farther leading away from a democracy or constitution.

Free enterprise, cheap labor and a stable government lead to economic prosperity in the United States. While in Mexico workers couldn't meet the quantity needs of European buyers, causing them to go elsewhere, destroying the snuffing out local industries. Leaving local economies in the hands of the elites. These small Mexican markets didn't attract European investment causing no development and independence from European powers.
