Early Life Hellen Keller was born on June 27, 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Hellen Keller was a happy, healthy baby. Her father, Arthur worked for newpapers. Her mother, Kate stayed at home and took care of her. She grew up on her families, huge farm, called Ivy Green. She loves horses,dogs and chickens. When Helen was about one and half years old she was very sick. She had a high fever and bad headache for many day. Although Helen survived her parents soon knew that she had lost both her sight and her hearing.
Education/Jobs At 7 her parents got Annie Sullivan teach Helen Keller to write and read. By age 10 she could read and use a typewriter. At 16 she went to Radcliffe College for Women in Massachusetts. Hellen graduated form Radcliffe in 1904 with honors.
Accomplishments She wrote articles for Ladies Home Journal. In1908 she wrote a book called The World I Live In. Helen Keller was raising money for the blind. She traveled all over the world giving speeches.
