THANKSGIVING
NOT EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS TRUE...
2.
THANKSGIVING DAY
It was on the fourth Thursday of November.
We have always kept that as a tradition.
Because it is only on Thursdays only, Thanksgiving
Is not on a specific date, like Christmas is.
About 50 pilgrims & 50 Native Americans attended
3.
THE SETTLERS
They didn't have silver buckles on their shoes
Their clothing was bright & happy, not dull
Some Natives had woven blankets on their shoulders
The Natives wore large, feathered headdresses
The settlers did not call themselves "pilgrims"
4.
NATIVE AMERICANS
Only had peace w/settlers for 1 generation
Womponoags didn't share the popular
respect for the traditional Thanksgiving.
The holiday reminds them of betrayal &
blood shed.
