THANKSGIVING

NOT EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS TRUE...

THANKSGIVING DAY

  • It was on the fourth Thursday of November.
  • We have always kept that as a tradition.
  • Because it is only on Thursdays only, Thanksgiving
  • Is not on a specific date, like Christmas is.
  • About 50 pilgrims & 50 Native Americans attended

THE SETTLERS

  • They didn't have silver buckles on their shoes
  • Their clothing was bright & happy, not dull
  • Some Natives had woven blankets on their shoulders
  • The Natives wore large, feathered headdresses
  • The settlers did not call themselves "pilgrims"

NATIVE AMERICANS

  • Only had peace w/settlers for 1 generation
  • Womponoags didn't share the popular
  • respect for the traditional Thanksgiving.
  • The holiday reminds them of betrayal &
  • blood shed.
