They occur above and below the equator
It is created by air movement over land masses
It gets their name by early traders would use these winds to sail from Europe to America

THE DOLDRUMS
The doldrums are a type of wind that is calm and has light baffling winds
The doldrums occur north of the equator between the northern and southern trade winds

THE HORSE LATITUDES
The horse latitudes occur at the subtropical latitudes 30 and 35 degrees both north and south
These winds get their name from Spanish sailors who would transport horses on their vessels.
These winds would slow the vessels when they entered this latitude and make toe voyage last longer.
This would create water shortages, and the sailors would throw the horses overboard.

THE MOUNTAIN BREEZE (WIND) / VALLEY BREZZE (WIND)
The mountain breeze is a localized wind that occurs in a cycle with the valley breeze
Mountain breeze blows down a mountain slope.
The valley breeze blows up the mountain slope.
Mountain breezes occur during the night.
Valley breezes occur during the day.

THE CHINOOK WINDS
The chinook winds are caused by the moist weather patterns, coming from the pacific coast
The chinook winds cool as they climb the western slopes.
Then rapidly increase as they go down the eastern slopes.
The chinook winds can also make a foot of snow disappear in one day.

THE SANTA ANA WINDS
Are named after southern California's canyon, Santa Ana
Are dry and also hot and dusty wind.
They originate from the Santa Ana canyon.
Blows from east to west.

THE NOR'EASTERN WINDS
Causes ferocious storms in the winter on the east coast
The strong areas of low pressure form in the Gulf of Mexico or on the east coast
Occurs in New York City, Boston, and New England

THE MONSOONS
Are traditionally defined as a seasonal wind.
These winds are colder than the sea and cause heavy rains in the summer.
They occur in the Indian Ocean and southern Asia.
10.
DIABLO
is a name that has been occasionally used for the hot, dry offshore wind from the northeast .
The typically occur in San Francisco Bay Area.
Also can form in the Diablo Mountain Range in California
