PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Started with a group of German psychologists including Max Wertheimer, Wolfgang Köhler, and Kurt Koffka.
Gestalt is a German word for, "whole parts". Makes you see things as a whole instead of in separate parts. Such as, when you look at a chair you see the whole thing instead of just the legs or the seat.
Gestalt is the study of how sensations are assembled into perceptual experiences. A perceptual experience is the basic component information of a concept.
Humans are not passive receivers of sensory information. Our perceptions area active, lively, and organized.
Gestalt was the start of cognitive (mental process of perception, memory, judgment, and reasoning) approaches to the study of psychology.
