Twitter Fiction encompasses stories that, like a "tweet", contain 140 characters or less.
Here are some examples:

Ship-wrecked, starving, desperate. He steals the last water-bottle and runs. Six miles later, he chokes on salt-water.
Beaten to the punch.

His stalker works at the café. “I’m not really interested,” he repeats. “I’m not really a waitress,” she smiles as the poison takes hold.

Her son, though young, is quite an artist. His latest work is truly a masterpiece. With some regret, she scrubs the crayon off her walls.

“The floor is lava!” the boys cheer, leaping on couches. A single smirk; a spell softly spoken. Child-bearing chairs ooze into the eruption.

She bought the princess costume, unable to resist her baby’s innocent, hopeful smile. Of course, her husband may dislike their son’s choice.

He thought they were soul mates, until the day she lifted her head from the toilet to answer his hesitant, longing question:
“I hope not.”

“Trust this only,” she growled in my ear.
“I’ll come back for you.”
I shuddered as I pulled the knife from her spine and let her drop.

She puckered up and kissed the frog, searching for her prince and yearning for 'happily ever after'. She wound up with warts instead.
"Croak."

Sometimes I feel like I need to escape my own skin. I rip wickedly at my flesh to try and get out, but I only wind up with more scars.

Carefully folded paper; delightfully curled ribbon—a perfectly wrapped present, sat with pride beneath the tree. Destroyed in five seconds flat by eager little fingers.

“Check for monsters,” she used to say.
“In the cupboard. Under the bed.”
It never occurred to her that the monster was the person checking.

On the brim of the envelope, she hesitates. Her life was at a crossroads; this letter would be her guide.
She inhales, and opens it.

The shore-line was a mess of pits and piles. “Third time’s the charm!” he parroted manically, digging his eighty-seventh hole.
‘X’ marks the spot, indeed...
