  • The number of followers this religion has is about 14 million Jews.

Where and When?

  • Judaism originated about 5,000 years ago, 1800 B.C.E.
  • This religion originated in Isreal.

  • Jews worship at a synagogue.
  • The specific day of worship is Sabbath (Sunday).

  • Adonai, their god.
  • Abraham, the first ever Jew or the father of Judaism.

Symbols

  • The Star of David, it is a symbol of Jewish identidy.

Hanukkah-Holy Days

  • Each year late November to early December Jews celebrate  Hanukkah. 
  • They celebrate with lighting candles on a menorah.  
  • Playing games such as the dreidel game, and eating foods such as Latkes.

Rosh Hashanah- Holy Days

  • This Holy Day is the Jewish new year.
  • his Holy Day starts on the first day of Tishrei or Autumn.
  • Rosh Hashanah is celebrated with praying in a synagogue.
  • Jews also celebrate by playing a musical instrument called a Shafar.

Important Practices

  • Many Jews say this prayer daily-
  • "Hear o Israel the Lord is our God the Lord is One."
  • Also most Jews pray in a congregation or gathering 3 times a day.
