PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE SLAVE TRADE

1600-1800

INTRODUCTION
The slave trade was a major event that took place in the 1600-1800's that radically altered the civil rights.

Native Americans were the first enslaved on plantations but we're replaced by the Africans because of disease, allies, and no knowledge of farming. However, Africans had no allies in the Americas and were immune to European diseases.

Europeans soon found that Africans were the best option for free labor. They began going into the coast of West Africa and kidnapping tribes. These Africans were held in barracoons until a slaver came to take them to the Americas.

Life on the slaver
They were treated in poor conditions. It was humid, and very tight. They often died of lacking food, starving themselves, and hygiene. Slaves attempted to take over the ship, but failed 99% of the time.
