DEVELOPMENT OF ISLAM In 570, Mohammed was born in the of Mecca in current day Saudi Arabia. At the age of forty, Mohammed discovered his first cave vision in one of the Meccan caves - which enivitably ended up being the basis for the first Quran - and began preaching to his fellow citezins of the holy city, until the event Hijra thirsted him out of the aforementioned city to the city of Medina in 622.

DEVELOPMENT OF ISLAM Within the course of nearly 500 years, three civil wars, the election of multiple Caliphs, the creation of the Quran and Mohammed's biography would spread widely through the Middle East, Muslim armies would conquer Syria, Alexandria, Persia, and Jerusalem - coincidently, Jerusalem was the holy cities for Christianity as well as Judaism, which resulted in the Crusades - and the four major schools of Islam -Hanafi, Maliki, Sāfi'ī, and Hanabali - were established.
LIFE OF MOHAMMED Muhammad was first raised by his grandfather but after he had died, he was raised by his uncle who was the head of the Hashim Clan. The Hashim Clan was one of many clans making up separate tribes.
LIFE OF MOHAMMED At around the age of 25 he had worked for a widow named Khadijah, she was a wealthy merchant. She had appreciated his intelligence and maturity so much that she had proposed to him. They were married for 15 years which allowed him to continue traveling and encounter different faiths and customs.
LIFE OF MOHAMMED By the time he was forty he had began to spend time in solitude with questions that troubled him. Most Muslims believed that the angel Gabriel had appeared before him when he stayed at a small cave near Mecca.
LIFE OF MOHAMMED Islam was a new faith which incorporated aspects of Judaism and and Chrisianity. Muhammad called Abraham "Khalil" God's friend and identified him as Islam's ancient patriarch. Muhammad also believed that he himself was Gld's final prophet.
