THE DUKAN DIET

The Dukan Diet is protein based nutritional approach designed by Pierre Dukan, a French nutritionist and dietician.

ABOUT IT

The diet is based on a list of 100 foods allowed, as well as four specific phases : attack, cruise, consolidation, and stabilization.

ATTACK PHASE

  • 2-7 days
  • Eat all lean protein you can handle
  • Eat 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran
  • At least 6 cups of water daily .

CRUISE PHASE

  • Lasts several months
  • Eat unlimited amount of non starchy veggies every other day
  • Half tablespoon of oat bran

CONSOLIDATION PHASE

  • 5 days for every pound you've lost
  • Eat veggies every day
  • One piece of fruit
  • 2 slices of whole-grain bread
  • 1 hard cheese

Untitled Slide

  • 1 or 2 servings of starchy foods
  • 1 or 2 "celebration" meals where you can eat anything

STABILIZATION PHASE

  • On going
  • You can eat whatever you want
  • One day a week follow all-protein rules from the "attack"
  • eat 3 tablespoons of oat bran a day
  • Walk 20 minutes evey day

EXTRA FOOD

  • Sugar free gum
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Spices
  • Unsweeted coffee and tea
  • 1 glass of wine per day (consolidation and stabilization)
