PHYSICAL FEATURES

  • Tulum beach affects the locals by supplying them with jobs. From all of the tourist attraction
  • Colima volcano has been active for 5 million years if it were to erupt by nearby villagers the ash could get into their eyes and make it hard to breathe.

CLIMATE

  • Average temperature is warm all year long Mexico only has two seasons wet and dry. Wet consisting mostly of rain many use rain proof clothing etc.for the dry many cool off by wearing thin clothing.

NATURAL DISASTERS

  • Volcanism like Colima has last erupted in 2010 and is mostly responsible for the evacuations of the nearby villagers

POPULATION

  • 125,092,205

RELIGION

  • Most practice Roman Catholic and a small percent practice Pentecostal most have the same traditions like baptisms etc..

LANGUAGES

  • A large percent speak Spanish
  • One important phrase to know is Donde esta el bano which means "where is the bathroom"?

CLOTHING

  • Modern clothing doesn't really differ that much from what people wear in the US.
  • Traditional women wear a skirt and a huipil which a kind of sleeve less tunic and also a quechquemitl which is a shoulder cape
  • For men some wear tuxes, or a cape called a sarape

FOOD

  • A traditional menu main course varies from albondigas (meatballs) to a variety of sopas (pastas) or tortas ( sandwiches) for drinks they have soft drinks or an alcoholic beverage. Desserts consists of pastel de queso or cheese cake

MUSIC

  • Many of their music consists of many instruments like marcas, harp, violin.. And a lot of others!

SPORTS

  • The most popular sports in Mexico are futbol (soccer) bullfighting, basketball, baseball, followed by boxing.

  • One special event that Mexico celebrates is its Independence Day where they celebrate it for the country's victory over the French back in 1862

TIMELINE

  • 1100 Mayan civilization collapses most likely because of the overpopulation and lack of resources to support everyone
  • May 1521 Hernan Cortes attacks Aztecs colonizes region Cortes named area new Spain for many years Spain controlled Aztecs. Millions of millions of people died from disease brought to Mexico from Europe.
  • 1821 Mexico wins independence from Spain Vicente Guerrero and Augustine de iturbide joined forces and helped Mexico win it's freedom from Spanish rule even though they create a constitution together Augustine declares himself ruler in 1822

TIMELINE

  • February 1848 Mexico loses mexican-American war a two year battle with US over annexation of Texas results in an American victory over Mexico 500,000 sq. mi of territory given to US
  • January 2013 president Enrique Pena nieto takes office, he was formerly the state of Mexico governor Pena nieto vows to reduce violence that plagues his country

INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

  • The Aztecs original nomadic group from northern part of present day Mexico later occupied central Mexico
  • The Mayans also one of the indigenous people that has best conserved it identity

  • Federal republic leader Enrique Pena nieto

CURRENCY

  • One US dollar equals 15.02 pesos
