FAMILY LIFE

  • Felix Mendelssohn was born on February 3, 1809 in Hamburg, Germany.
  • His mother was Leah Salomon and his father was Abraham Mendelssohn.
  • His family was very intelligent.
  • He had three siblings: Fanny, Rebecka, and Paul.
  • He was the grandson of philosopher Moses Mendelssohn.
  • His wife was Cecili Charlotte Sophie Jeanrenaud. He married her on March 28, 1837.
  • He had five children.
  • Mendelssohn died on November 4, 1847 in Leipzig, Germany.

MUSICAL LIFE

  • In 1819, Mendelssohn joined Singkademie music academy.
  • He became a conductor in 1829.
  • Mendelssohn founded Leipzig Conservatory of Music.
  • His works include Wedding March, Italian Symphony, Overture to "A Midsummer Night's Dream, Scottish Symphony, and Piano Concerto No. 2 in D Minor
