PRESENTATION OUTLINE
The Aztecs were very artistic people. They were into pottery and created many artistic drawings. They even designed art for their warriors and applied them as tattoos.
The Aztecs had mandatory public schooling for all children. Their schools were separated by gender. The boys went to a school where they trained them to be warriors, and the girls education was focused at home, they were taught how to cook and weave.
The Aztecs got their name by the Westerners. They came up with name 'Aztecs' because the Aztecs lived in a place northern part of Mexico called 'Aztlan'.
The Aztecs had their own language. The alphabet for their language was a form of picture writing. They used deer skin or bark as paper. They kept tax records, historical records, and even wrote poetry.
The main foods Aztecs ate were maize (corn), tortillas, fruits and vegetables, dogs, turkeys, ducks, insects & fish. The most valued food was the cocoa bean used to make chocolate.
Marriage: Most Aztec men would get married at the age of 20. They don't chose their wives. Matchmakers arranged weddings for them. When the matchmaker choses two people to be married, both of the families need to agree.
There were rules for clothing for the Aztecs. They created laws on what specific color and decorations they could wear. The punishment for breaking the law was death.
Life of a normal person living in the Aztec empire was hard work. The rich lived luxury lives, but the common people had to work hard.
Family structure was very important to the Aztecs. The husband worked as a farmer, warrior, or craftsman. The wife stayed at home cooking and weaving for the family. The kids went to school nearby their home.
Wealthy people lived in homes made out of stone, the king of the Aztecs lived in a large palace with many rooms and gardens. The poor lived in small huts made out of palm leaves.
