CASSIE

• The definition of first person is someone that is telling the story using words like I and me.

SETTING

• The story takes place in Spokane Mississippi in 1933.
• Segragation was still very high in the south.
• African American people were treated very badly.
• The Ku Klux Klan was on the loose, and had not one of them had been arrested.

PLOT

• The Logan children have to walk to school every morning through the Mississippi dust.
• The family lives a hard life as farmers that are african american.
• People are prejudice with towards them every day.
• The KKK had come to there house.

THEME

• The Theme of this book is be an up-stander not a bystander.
• Little Man stood up for his right of a good book. The way he did it did not work.
• "Pick it up", she ordered. "No"! defied Little Man (page 6).
