The U.S. operates 700 to 800 military bases globally. The Unified Combatant Commands are categorized into command structures around the globe.

A 1997 U.S. Department of Defense report said that "Data shows a strong correlation between U.S. involvement abroad and an increase in terrorist attacks against the U.S."

"...overwhelmingly suicide-terrorist attacks are not driven by religion as much as they are by a clear strategic objective: to compel modern democracies to withdraw military forces from the territory that the terrorists view as their homeland. From Lebanon to Sri Lanka to Chechnya to Kashmir to the West Bank, every major suicide-terrorist campaign--over 95 percent of all the incidents--has had as its central objective to compel a democratic state to withdraw."

Quotes from Osama Bin Laden of Al-Qaeda (a terrorist group from the Middle East that committed the 9/11 attacks on the U.S.):

"Why are we fighting and opposing you? The answer is very simple...You attacked us in Palestine...which has sunk under military occupation for more than 80 years. The British handed over Palestine, with your help and your support, to the Jews, who have occupied it for more than 50 years...The creation and continuation of Israel is one of the greatest crimes, and you are the leaders of its criminals."

You have starved the Muslims of Iraq, where children die every day. It is a wonder that more than 1.5 million Iraqi children have died as a result of your sanctions, and you did not show concern."
