Small group communication refers to 3 to 20 people engaged in activities, for example working towards completing a task, like a school project, or learning more about each other by playing a “cross the line” game. Small group communication can help teens be more open, and less fearful in sharing about them. Counselors or teachers usually oversee small group communication activities and although not everyone will initially participate, because of the group setting and individuals who are brave to share first, others can become less scared and engage with their peers. Through this research project I discovered the benefits of small group communication among teens, and its importance in decreasing social anxiety and increasing the ability to accept others.
