PRESENTATION OUTLINE
a period of radical social and political sudden violence in France from 1789 to 1799 that greatly affected French and modern history, marking the decline of powerful monarchies and churches and the rise of democracy and nationalism.
The outcome of the French revolution was the first French Republic in 1792. This Republic was failing by 1799 and Napoleon intervened on 18 Brumaire and saved the republic from collapse. Once Napoleon was in control he rebuilt the French economy and began reforms, expanding the infrastructure, opening public schools, reforming the military, creating a civil code, and negotiating a concordat with the pope were only a few of his achievements.
The war of independence waged by the American colonies against Britain influenced political ideas and revolutions around the globe, as a largely disconnected nation won its freedom from the greatest military force of its time.
United States, Kingdom of France, Spain, Dutch Republic, Vermont Republic, Great Britain
Conflict between the U.S. and Great Britain was almost assured because British debts were not collected, Loyalists were not compensated and the British maintained forts in the Northwest.
Three new countries were created:
The United States, Canada and Australia
Both revolutions were really interesting to research about but if I had to pick a favorite it would be..................
The American revolution!
I picked this as my favorite because it shaped North America as what it is today!
