What are they?

What Kinds are there?

  • Vitamin A, B (folate and others)
  • Vitamin C, E and K

  • Plant & Animal
  • Medical vitamins

Vitamin B

  • B12 and B6
  • B6= Keeps your heart healthy, 1.3 mcg reccomended Ex: Tuna and Salmon
  • B12- Helps make DNA, 2.4 mcg reccomended, Ex: fish and chicken

Vitamin A

  • Fat-solude
  • naturally found in many foods; The average person needs 700-900 micrograms
  • EX: cooked carrots, cooked potatoes, and dried appricots
  • Aids night vision, and also helps the heart, lungs, and kidneys work proper
  • 2 TYPES; found in meat, and found in plan-based foods

Vitamin E

  • Fat- Solube
  • Rebuilds red blood cells
  • EX: vegetable oils, cereal, meats, eggs, and fruits
  • required for proper function of organs  slows damaging of cells

Vitamin K

  • fat-soluble
  • clots blood
  • uncontrollable bleeding
  • found in plant & animal based foods
  • Mostly found in leafy green vegtbles 

Vitamin C; AKA Absorbic acid

  • water- soluble
  • maintains bones and teeth
  • protects cells from radicals (smoke,pollution,UV Light)
  • Average person needs 75mg of Vitamin C daily
  • Food examples: peppers, guavas, and kiwis

Vitamin D

  • helps the body use calcium
  • naturally occurring after exposure to the sun
  • Found in Dairy
  • EX: yogurt

Folate

  • Water solube
  • B vitamin
  • Also known as folic acid
  • Makes DNA
