  • Sweet
  • Grown worldwide
  • Diverse in use

What are oranges & why are they a superfood?

What are Oranges?

  • A citrus fruit
  • Orange in colour
  • Can be sweet or bitter
  • First grown in Asia
  • Low in calories

Why are Oranges a superfood?

  • High levels of Vitamin C & A
  • High levels of K, Ca, and Mg
  • High levels of antioxidants
  • High levels of flavanoids
  • High levels of dietry fibre

What is Spinach and why is it a superfood?

What is Spinach?

  • Comes from the 'Goosefoot' family
  • An Asian vegetable
  • Dark, green, leafy vegetable
  • Can be eaten raw or cooked
  • Slightly bitter

Why is Spinach a superfood?

  • High levels of Vitamin C, A & K
  • High levels of Folate
  • High levels of Ca & Fe
  • Contains glycoglycerolipids 
  • Can reduce cancer

What are Tomatoes and why are they a superfood?

What are Tomatoes?

  • A fruit! (due to the ovary)
  • Technically a berry
  • Can be red, green or even yellow
  • Related to the potato & eggplant
  • Can be bought alone or on a vine

Why are Tomatoes a superfood?

  • High levels of Vitamin A & C
  • Contains folic & alpha-lipoic acid
  • Contains antioxidants
  • Contains lycopene & cholene
  • Contains luetin & beta-caratone
