ABOUT FIRE EATING

Fire eaters don't literally eat fire. They place flames in their mouth and extinguish them. It's like snuffing out a candle with your hand, but more impressive.

The fire eater can completely close her lips all the way around the torch, cutting off oxygen and killing the flame, or he or she can put the flame out with a quick exhaling breath.

when it all began

Fire eating dates back as far as the third century B.C., when jugglers entertained in Royal Courts in ancient Greece. However, 'the great day of the fire eater, did not truly begin until much later.

. From Richardson, who in 1672 '...melted a beer bottle and ate it, to Tagora the Human Volcano who performed in the world of circus and variety between the 1940s and 1970s, fire eaters have continued to ply their trade; in streets and docksides to the top-of-the-bill in theatres and circuses

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME (or anywhere). Recently a harris 111 (a professional) has been hospitalized with 2nd degree burns.

If you do chose to do this make sure you have adult supervision. You only have yourself to blame if you burn yourself.

how i did it

since i was to lazy to make a torch i took a cotton ball, stuck it o the end of a tooth pick.

because my mouth had saliva it did not burn me that much and when i closed my mouth it cut of the oxygen therefore the flame went out
