1.CHARLES BRIDGE

ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS BRIDGES

WHY?

  • Many movies are shot on this bridge like mission impossible
  • It is a world famous photography hotspot
  • It is one the world's biggest tourist attractions with thousands of visitors everyday
  • It is one of the world's most beautiful bridges
  • And the most important reason. I was there

2.PART 1: SINGING IN ST. VITUS CATHEDRAL

IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CATHEDRAL I HAVE EVER SEEN.

INTERESTING...

  • The church is over 600 years old
  • It was not completed until 1953
  • Only 2 % of the country goes to church
  • This means that the most of the people who goes to the church are tourists
  • Only 14% of the country is religious although the country has many churches

2.PART 2: ST. NICHOLAS

A CHURCH FOR PERFORMERS

THE MUSICAL CHURCH

  • The baroque styled organ was played on in a concert by Mozart in 1787.
  • Above the organ is a fresco of St. Cecilia the patroness of music.
  • Since the early 1700's there has been classical performances in this church almost everyday
  • I was one of many co-choristers who was fortunate to sing in this church.
  • If you don't hear music when you walk past this church you are either completely deaf or the world has musically ended

  • Here I learnt that being friendly gets you things

SHOPPING

  • If you think menlyn or woodlands is big wait till you see Chodov it is HUGE!!
  • Word of advice don't take pictures of stuff in clothing stores.
  • My very first mini twister and a botomless soda machine @kfc

  • A flashmob

4.VLATAVA RIVER

  • The river is 435 km long and has a drainage basin of 28,093 square kilometres
  • This makes it the longest river in the Czech Republic and the main natural river in the country

"INTERESTING" EVENTS

  • Hotel almost kicked out and card no cash
  • It contains many underground tunnels which had bars and living areas. It was a retreat for men who got tired of their women
  • The town is over 590 years old
  • It was founded by a guy who only had one eye and was blind because of war
  • It contained europes very first artificial lake. Lake Jordan

10 REASONS

  • They have a sense for style of nature. They invented soft contact lenses in 1959
  • Some of my favourite composers come from Czech Republic such as Antonin Dvorak.
  • The word robot comes from a Czech play called Rossum's Universal Robots by Karl Capek
  • They have mushroom hunting as a tradition on St. Vaclav day.
  • If you have a Czech date the female should walk in behind you and in front of you when entering other buildings.

  • They're official language is Czech and it is a beautiful yet diffucult language
  • They love beer as they are the most beer consuming country in the world.
  • The country is almost entirely surround with mountians and the country contains many beautifull young people
  • The people are very artistic and Czech Republic has some of the best art schools in the world.
  • The country has the most hospital beds per inhabitant in the eu and second highest deaths of cancer in the eu after hungary

THE COUNTRY IS FULL OF RICH HISTORY AND POLITICAL BACKGROUND

HISTORY

  • The Czech state, formerly known as Bohemia was formed in the late 9th century as a small duchy around Prague
  • Czechoslovakia was the only democratic remaining country in the central and eastern europe during both world wars.
  • Since the 9th century the country has had nine names until now.
  • Italy and the roman empire was once under the command of the Czech Empire led by king Charles IV the greatest czech of all time.
  • The country has the most castles and ruins in the world after France and Belguim and the most important castle is Prague Castle

POLITICS

  • Reporters Without Borders ranked the Czech Republic as the 5th best country in the world (out of 168 countries listed) for freedom of press in 2006.
  • Czech Republic, President Miloš Zeman is the third and current President of the Czech Republic, in office since 8 March 2013. Previously he served as the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from 1998 to 2002.
  • Previously he served as the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from 1998 to 2002.
  • The country works on a democratic system

  • The Czech Republic is the second richest Eastern European country after tiny Slovenia.
  • Prague's GDP per capita (PPP) is twice the Czech national average, and higher than any EU member states' national average except Luxembourg.
  • The money unit is koruna which trades at R1,00 = 1,83 koruna

  • Czech Republic ended 2012 with a population of 10,516,125 people,
  • The female population is greater,
  • with 5,351,776 women, representing 50.89% of the total, compared to 5,164,349 or 49.10% men.
