POLYSYNDETON:
USING MULTIPLE COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS IN SUCCESION TO CREATE AN ARTISTIC EFFECT.

POLYSYNDETON

  • Comes from Greek word meaning "bound together."
  • Used where conjuctions could have been ommitted.
  • Usually used very quickly with short words in-between.

Polyptoton
-Repetition of a word in a different case or inflection in the same sentence.
-The repetition of words derived from the same root but with different endings.

POLYPTOTON

  • From the Greek, "use of the same word in different cases"
  • Uses excessive words instead of shorter expressions.
  • Help embellish sentences to create striking effects.
  • Pronounced as "polyp-toton"
