• Believed society would flourish this way
• Nazi Germany proved to be very powerful
• Some sought to mimic Hitlers plans to be sucessful themselves

• Feared that labor leaders were planning revolution
• National Unity Party----> Nazi Party
• Prime Minister of Norway during German Occupation
• Name is synonym for traitor

INVOLVEMENT WITH HITLER

• Alfred Rosenburg
• 1939: dicussed with Hitler the invasion of Norway
• Gave Hitler valuable information

THE INVASION

• 1940 :Warships and paratroopers
• Quisling proclaimed himself new head of gov.
• Called for voluntary war efforts in support of Germany
• Jews commanded to give up radio sets and membership lists

POST INVASION

• Norwegian Communist Party outlawed
• Quisling made sole head of Norway
• "Pure Jews" list and desecration of synagogue
• Jewish men over 16 sent to Auschwitz
• Soon found guilty and sentenced to death in Oslo

• Deportation of Jews without Hungarian Citizenship
• Considered the first large scale massacre of Holocaust
• Don River--> hungarian army obliterated: Hitler blamed Jews
• Awareness that Allies could win war, stop complying with German requests
• Began exploring contacts with allies in hopes of surrender.
