Harbor REgional Center Serves

  • People with developmental disabilities and their families
  • Infants who are developmentally delayed or have an established risk
  • Pregnant women who are at risk for having a child with a disability
  • Developmental disability must occur before age of 18
  • Disabilities must be substantially handicapping and lifelong in nature

Harbor Regional Center serves many cities/communities in LA County

Types of Services and Support

  • Adult Day Activities: daily living, socialization, work activities, etc.
  • Early Childhood Services: parent-child interaction, specialists, OT, PT
  • Medical:  interdisciplinary assessment process, access to health care
  • Parent Training Classes:  specific disabilities, managing challenging behav
  • Residential Options:  skilled nursing, small group homes, foster family hom

  • Respite Care:  temporary relief from care and supervision to parents
  • Social/Recreation:  resources for social/recreational opportunities
  • Supported Living:  prepare/Assist adult clients to live on their own
  • Work Services:  support for adults in finding jobs

  • Large selection of literature, videos, media
  • Works like a library with a "check out" process
  • Available to families/individuals receiving services
  • Also available to professional staff
  • Categorized by color/section based on disability

  • Brochures, leaflets, and other informative literature available
  • Monthly calendars/fliers for specific classes
  • Information about applying for/requesting services
  • Information about the "Intake" process

Harbor REgional Center Overview

  • Intakes and assessments take place at this location
  • Satellite location in Long Beach available for intakes/assessments
  • LB site located conveniently to communities north east of service a
  • 0-3 years of age vs. 3-18 years of age
  • Tests or other services provided during intakes process are free

  • LB location not available for tours, only available for intakes/assessments
  • Limited information/help from staff during tour (redirected to website)
  • Challenging to find/on retail property
  • It will be important to consider transportation to Torrance site
  • Traffic and hours of operation are limited for working families
