The Statue of Liberty is a girl because it represents Libertas which is a Roman goddess of freedom who bears a torch and a tabula ansata(a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date AMERICAN DECLARATION of INDEPENDENCE July 4 1776
Lady Liberty is a gift from the people of France to the United States
The Lady is 1,813 inches tall.
It was dedicated on October 28 1886
The purpose of the Statue of Liberty is because it's an icon of freedom of the United States welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad.
Due to the statue liberty's age, the chemical reactions between metal & water which is a patination. A patination happens when copper is placed outside. The original color of the green lady was a shiny reddish-brown color.
The Statue of Liberty was created by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi.
