PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE EURASIAN WATERMILFOIL

IT IS A GREEN PLANT THAT FORMS A THICK MAT ON

THE WATERS SURFACE IN THE GREAT LAKES.

NOBODY KNOWS EXACTLY HOW IT GOT HERE.

IT'S HABITAT IS IN THE SHALLOW PART OF THE

GREAT LAKES IN ABOUT 26 FEET DEEP AT THE MOST.

THE EURASIAN WATER MILFOIL DOES NOT EAT ANYTHING

  • It grows by light penetration
  • But the plant is eaten by
  • The aquatic weevil.

The reason the Eurasian Watermilfoil is bad is because it creates a canopy that covers the vegetation making nearly impossible to grow. It also gets caught in the propellers of boats.

The plant not only makes it hard for the vegetation to grow but also decreases the oxygen output making it hard for fish to survive.
