BLIZZARD FORMATION .

  • Blizzard- a severe snowstorm with high winds and low visibility
  • In order for a blizzard to form the surface has to be cold , the atmosphere has to have a lot of moisture and the warm air has to rise over the cold air , the amount of snow determines the amount of moisture in the atmosphere .

WHEN AND WHERE BLIZZARDS OCCUR .

  • Blizzards are common in the upper Midwest and the Great Plains in the United States but can occur all over the world .
  • Blizzards are known to be in winter at any time of the day.

MEASURING AND DETECTING .

  • Wind gust over 35 mph
  • Visibility of less than a quarter mile . ( you'll probably think it's closer )
  • Duration of at least 3 hours.
  • Temperature below 20 degrees f. / -70 degrees c.
  • Radar and satellite is how they detecting forecast the weather

THE DAMAGE😡.

  • With the amount of snow from the blizzard the snow can bury vehicles and roads for days. People can also be buried into snow . The snow breaks power lines and if to much weight it can collapse your roof .

  • Stay in doors and keep warm .
  • Eat regularly food provides energy creating its own heat .
  • If must go outside wear appropriate winter gear.
  • Keep dry
  • Watch for signs of hypothermia and frostbite
  • Keep a cell phone just for safety.

  • It is important to study weather because if at any time there was a bad storm you'll know what to do .
  • Snow is a major storm in Wisconsin but is not as big as other storms .
