BACKGROUND

  • Grew up in ryazan russia
  • lived in poverty
  • born September 26 18449
  • Began education in high school

HIS EXPERIMENTS

  • Pavlov believed in classical conditioning
  • That reactions were unconscious and could be taught
  • He tested this with very hungry dogs and a dinner bell
  • When the dogs heard the bell, they started to salivate
  • THis idea shows how the brain can change

WHY SO SIGNIFICANT?

  • Pavlov's idea later sprean into behaviorism
  • Behivorism is the theory that human and animal-
  • can be explained in terms of condtioning without-
  • appeal to thoughts or feelings.
  • Basically Pavlov helped contribut to the study of psychology
