• Interest high tariffs to protect young industry.
• National banks to make loans available for investments.

SOUTH

CULTURE

• Is based on Agriculture & strict class structure Aristocracy.

TOWNS/CITIES

• Very few large cities.
• Rivers made large parts less necessary.

EDUCATION

• No public education
• African Americans sent to private school illegal.

POLITICAL ISSUES

• Supported southern interest tariffs protection of slavery.

WEST

CULTURE

• Northwest reflected New England culture.
• Southwest reflected more southern ideas of culture.

MANIFEST DESTINY

• Belief in strong individualism based on ideas of factor from God &hard work in the field.

POLITICAL ISSUES

• Wanted cheap land.
• Building of infrastructure.
• Uncontrolled banking to help provide loans for new land purchasers.

AFRICAN AMERICANS IN THE NORTH

• Outlawed slavery in the 1830, not allowed to vote, informal segregation of races existed throughout the north.

AFRICAN AMERICANS IN THE SOUTH

• Most was slaves,Freedom lived in the cities were they could work as artisans.
