Early Years

Born on January 7, 1942 in Lousville, Kentucky. His real name is Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., He was inspired to box when his bike was stolen.

Boxing Career
He was very dedicated to becoming the best boxer. He trained six days a week. He was known for being very fast. So fast that he didn't duck punches like most other boxers; instead, he just leaned back away from them. He also didn't put his hands up to protect his face; he kept them down by his hips. It made him a unique boxer.

By eighteen he had already won several national tournaments. In 1960 , he won the Olympic gold medal. In 1964, he won heavy weight championship. A day after he announced he had converted to Islam and changed his name Muhammad Ali.

In 1967, Muhammad received a draft notice for the Vietnam war. He refused to go because of his religious beliefs. He was tried and found guilty of draft evasion. Sentenced to five years in prison.

He was also stripped of his title and was exiled from boxing. After three and half years. He could box again, and on his second fight from coming back he won heavy weight championship.

Why?
I would like to meet him because he did struggle with Parkinson's syndrome but overcame it and still become one of the worlds greatest boxers. He also stood up for what he believed in no matter what the consequences were. He is an inspiration to dream big and don't let anything stop you.
