DODDER VINE

  • To counter the defense of the host plant the dodder vine feeds off of it
  • it uses its haustoria to wrap around
  • the plant and makes it way to the stem and roots
  • It then cuts off the nutrient supply of the plant and from there
  • it weakens the plant and in some cases kills it. 

NIGHTSHADE

  • It produces berries that are extremely toxic if eaten or consumed
  • When consumed, the body recognizes as a drug
  • Its then absorbed into the brains receptors
  • if you eat enough it will begin to cause delirium

NIGHTSHADE

  • The defense is for dogs and horses
  • they recognize the berries as a food source
  • an adult can consume 2-3 berries without injury
  • but may cause dangerous symptoms

NIGHTSHADE

  • It causes hallucinations and extreme delirium.
  • It increases the heart rate by 20-40 bpm
  • Typhoid fever and other deseases might occur

POISON IVY

  • The chemical in Poison Ivy that produces these reactions is called Urushiol
  • Poison Ivy contains a chemical that causes the skin to rash
  • If touched, the plant produces a chemical that absorbs into the skin
  • It causes a itchy and red rash
  • The plant is spotted to warn insects that it is poisonus

CACTUS

  • Cacti's main line of defense is their spines
  • Spines can grow up to 8in
  • They are used to ward off most predators
  • Cacti also have a glossy outer layer that is hard to get throug
  • Some cacti have poisonous liquids on the inside
