FLOURINE DEFICIENCY

WHAT IS IT?

• Disorder caused by a lack of fluoride in a persons diet.
• May cause increased dental caries
• May even cause osteoporosis

WHO CAN GET IT?

• Anybody who does not get their regular intake of fluoride

WHAT DOES IT AFFECT?

• Lack of fluoride affects teeth
• Can cause weak or brittle bones

DIAGNOSIS/TREATMENT

• If you have any caries on your teeth
• Having weak bones
• You should take the tolerable intake per day to help.

OTHER INFO

• Fluoride is not an essential vitamin.
• Lack of it may cause osteoporosis in menopausal women
• To have fluoride deficiency is very rare in 1st world countries.
